Jason Jonathan Roy is a South African English cricket player who plays for England in limited-over matches, and for Surrey County Cricket Club in domestic cricket. Jason Roy was a part of the England team that won the 2019 Cricket World Cup, and Roy holds the record for the highest individual One Day International (ODI) innings by an England batsman. Jason is a right-handed batsman who opens in limited-overs cricket and plays in the middle order in first-class matches. He made his Twenty20 International debut against India in September 2014, his ODI debut against Ireland in May 2015, and his Test debut against Ireland in July 2019. He was the first batsman to be given out for obstructing the field in T20I history. As of April 2021, Roy is ranked 18th in ODI batting, and 24th in T20I batting rankings according to the ICC Player Rankings, having previously been ranked in the top ten in each format.
