Jasprit Bumrah the pace sensation from India is likely to miss out on India’s T20 World Cup 2022 campaign due to his back injury. Jasprit Bumrah who last played the ODI series against England and rattled the English batters with his sheer pace and swing was not able to play the last game of that series. His back injury seems to be a bit serious and he is not expected to make it to the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 which is to be held in Australia. Here is an in-depth look:
Jasprit Bumrah Likely to Miss Out on the ICC T20 World Cup 2022:
Jasprit Bumrah is generally far from injuries as the BCCI manages his workload very well and gives him ample rest. But his back seems to have been strained in the series against England. Bumrah who is India’s top 3-format bowler was an integral part of India’s plan to win the ICC T20 World Cup.
When asked about Bumrah’s fitness a senior BCCI official said, “Yes, it’s concerning. He is back in rehab and will get the best medical advice available. The problem is it’s his old injury and that is what is concerning. We have just two months left for the World Cup and he has got this injury at the worst possible time. We are closely monitoring his condition. He is the best bowler in cricket and needs to be carefully managed”
Jasprit Bumrah is a Senior Bowler:
The case is that Bumrah is not an inexperienced bowler. He is the spearhead of the Indian bowling lineup. It is around him that the bowling lineup revolves. Over the years, he has improved his game by leaps and bounds. Bumrah is a complete T20 package. He has an amazing set of variations. His yorker is precise, his bouncer is amazing, his wide yorkers are elite and his knuckleball is difficult to pick.
Arshdeep Singh will have to Take Care of Death Bowling:
Arshdeep Singh, the young sensation will now have to take the responsibility of death bowling. Jasprit Bumrah’s big role was death bowling and in his absence, this young man has to put his hand up. He wouldn’t get a better opportunity. BCCI should consider Mohammed Shami too. It was earlier made clear that Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Shami are exclusive prospects for the 2023 ODI World Cup. But the selection panel needs to reconsider the case of Shami.
