Jasprit Bumrah set to be rested: Now that Team India has won the third test at the Saurashtra Cricket Stadium with flying colors and has a 2-1 lead in the series, they can now take a sigh of relief. The Blues really made a spectacular comeback after losing the first test in Hyderabad and now they have an upper hand in the series.
As Team India has things under control now, they have decided to rest Jasprit Bumrah for the third test that is set to be played at Ranchi. The pacer has given phenomenal service in the first three test matches that have been played and will be getting a much deserved break in the next match that will start on 23rd February.
Jasprit Bumrah took a total of six wickets in the first match, nine wickets in the second match, which included a 6-wicket haul in the second innings and two wickets in the third match. He is one of the most important assets of the Indian test team and it is important that he rests well. After all, he just came back from his injury recently. Whether Bumrah will take part in the fifth test has not been decided yet. It will depend on the result of the fourth test.
The Indian team will fly to Ranchi on February 20 and Jasprit Bumrah will not travel with them. Instead, he will travel to Ahmedabad, which is a 4-hour drive away from Rajkot, where the Indian team is currently.
Pacers being rested is something very common, especially in test cricket, because they are the most prone to injuries. Jasprit Bumrah has bowled 80.5 overs in the first three matches combined and picked up 17 wickets. Mohammed Siraj was also rested for the second test that was played at Visakhapatnam for the same reason. It is currently unclear who will replace Jasprit Bumrah in the playing XI for the fourth test.
India outclasses England in the third test
Team India registered a stunning victory against England in the third test. The hosts won by 434 runs, thanks to a brilliant all-round performance from the entire team. Ravindra Jadeja won the Player of the Match award, courtesy of his scintillating century in the first inning and 5-wicket haul in the second innings. However, Yashasvi Jaiswal’s unbeaten double century in the second innings also needs to be praised.
The Blues will look to bury the hatchet in the fourth match at Ranchi by winning it. Another win will ensure them winning the series and it will help them improve their position at the WTC rankings. Team India is currently second on the points table just behind New Zealand.
