Jhye Richardson, the tall right-arm pacer from Australia has been ruled out of the TATA IPL 2023. He was supposed to play for the Mumbai Indians. The Mumbai Indians had made a steal in the auction when they bought this gem of a bowler for 1 crore Indian rupees only. Jhye Richardson injured his hamstring earlier and he has undergone surgery to fix those hamstring issues. He is going to miss the entire TATA IPL 2023 season and is also doubtful for the Ashes 2023, that follows this tournament. It is a big blow for the Mumbai Indians as well as the Australian Cricket Team. Here is an in-depth look:
Jhye Richardson Ruled Out of TATA IPL 2023 Big Blow for Mumbai Indians:
The Mumbai Indians are already dealing with the absence of Jasprit Bumrah. And the absence of Jhye Richardson adds to that pain. Jhye Richardson injured his hamstring in the Big Bash League. He played through the little symptoms of injury for the Perth Scorchers. HE took Perth Scorchers to victory in that season.
But this problem has now increased. He has undergone surgery to fix his recurring hamstring issue. The Mumbai Indians will now have to rely on Jason Behrendorff and Jofra Archer to be the overseas fast-bowling battery. Richardson underwent surgery on March 10 and is now in the process of rehabilitation.
Possible Replacement for Jhye Richardson for the Mumbai Indians:
There are very few international bowlers who can match the skill of Jhye Richardson at the price of 1 crore. Here are a few suggestive replacements:
Chris Jordan:
Jordan is a T20 specialist. He is a world-champion bowler. Chris Jordan is also a death-over specialist. The Mumbai Indians can rope him in and can expect him to bowl in tandem, with Archer at the death.
Adam Milne:
Adam Milne has previously played for the Mumbai Indians. And he has done decently well for the men in blue. In his 10 games in the IPL, he has picked 7 wickets. His economy is 9.7 but the sample size of games is small. He is a class bowler and a specialist in powerplay overs. Adam Milne was the one who snatched the ODI World Cup 2019 away from the hands of the Indian team. He can consistently bowl at 145 clicks.
Lance Morris:
Lance Morris or the “wild thing” as he is known in domestic Australia can also be given an opportunity. Lance is a part of the Australian team that is touring India currently. He is known for his raw pace. He has frightened the domestic Australian batters by sheer pace and it is said that he consistently hits 150 kmph.
