ENGvsNZ: Kiwi skipper Kane Williamson has sustained an injury during the first test between England and New Zealand, and is doubtful for the second game, informed New Zealand management.

The second game between England and New Zealand will be held in Birmingham, starting June .

Williamson, who has hurt his left elbow, will be constantly checked by the medical team before taking a call on his position in the final11, said New Zealand coach Gary Stead.

“His elbow is still niggling him a wee bit,” Stead told reporters. “He’s had some more treatment on that and we just want to make sure the best thing for him is playing this match versus taking a little bit more time to be ready.”

Stead further said that left-arm pacer Trent Boult, who earlier completed his quarantine period, will be available for the next game and will replace the pacers in the side.

According to the reports, Neil Wagner is most likely to get a rest and Trent Boult will fill his space in the playing11 against England in the last test.

The update from Black Caps also suggested that spinner Mitchell Santner has been ruled out due to a cut on his left index finger.

“Pace bowlers from Lord’s won’t all play 2nd Test. Trent Boult available and likely to return. Mitchell Santner ruled out with his cut left index finger. Kane Williamson’s left elbow injury is being monitored and a decision to be made tomorrow,” tweeted Black Caps social media handle.

Following the completion of the two games test series against England, the Kiwis will prepare themselves for the summit clash against India in the final of ICC WTC.
