KKR vs RRKolkata Knight Riders have registered their first win of the IPL 2025 by defeating RR in dominating fashion. Royals seemed helpless against Quinton de Kock's masterclass with bat and had no answers for the disciplined bowling attack of the Knights.

Quinton de Kock, the South African wicketkeeper Batsman, for Rs. 3.6 Cr was just a steal at the auction for KKR. They were pretty happy that day and his incredible performance today showed why he was the trusted one. KKR also had tight bowling today and they restricted Rajasthan Royals around 150 and on the wicket of Guwahati, it was not going to a tough chase

Let's take a look at the Updated IPL 2025 Points Table along with the match highlights of KKR vs RR:

KKR vs RR Match Summary

Kolkata Knight Riders were the one winning the toss and Rajasthan Royals struggled to put up a competitive total on a surface that, while decent for batting, also offered some assistance to the spinners. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson started positively, but after Samson was bowled by Arora, RR lost wickets in quick succession, slipping from 67/1 to 82/5.

The introduction of impact substitute Shubham Dubey did little to stabilize the innings, and it was left to Dhruv Jurel and late fireworks from Jofra Archer to push RR to a modest total of 151. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) executed their bowling plans effectively, using only five bowlers, all of whom contributed with wickets. Moeen Ali and Varun Chakravarthy stood out, ensuring that RR never gained momentum.

Chasing 152, KKR took a measured approach in the powerplay, with Quinton de Kock and Moeen Ali negotiating the initial burst from the pacers. While Moeen was run out just after the powerplay, RR’s spinners couldn’t maintain pressure for long. Wanindu Hasaranga struggled with his lengths, allowing KKR batters to find release shots comfortably.

De Kock remained the anchor of the chase, playing spin smartly and finishing the job against Jofra Archer with a stylish SIX over long-on. Youngster Angkrish Raghuvanshi supported him well with an unbeaten 22 as KKR cruised to victory with ease. The match reaffirmed that low-scoring contests still hold value in T20 cricket, provided the bowlers execute their strategies effectively.

Sunil Narine missed out today as the skipper mentioned he is a bit unwell but his replacement Moeen Ali did an equally good job with the ball on his hands.
