Vivo IPL 2021: Australia’s star all-rounder Pat Cummins has given an early shock to his Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise as he is highly unlikely to take part in the remaining 31 games of the Vivo IPL 2021 in the UAE. Cummins informed his fans that due to family issues travelling to the UAE would be a complicated task.

The pace all-rounder was acquired by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2020 IPL auctions and was retained ahead of the IPL 2021 auctions for a whopping INR 15.50 crore.

Pat Cummins did a Question and Answer session today on his Youtube Channel where he informed that his partner is pregnant and their baby is due in the middle of the IPL. He further stated that this isn’t his final call yet.

“Unfortunately, at this stage, I probably won’t be going to the IPL. I haven’t made an official call on it. But my partner is pregnant and our baby is due in the middle of the IPL,” said Pat Cummins during his Youtube Question and Answer session today.

The travel restrictions in the UAE and coming back to Australia won’t be easy. There will be some quarantine in the UAE and two weeks isolation after returning to Australia, so the process isn’t smooth to take part in the IPL and return back.

“At the moment, there is a travel restriction to get back to Australia, you got to do 2 weeks quarantine. There is probably going to be some days quarantine going to UAE. So for the second half this season it’s going to be really tough to get over there,” he added.

The pacer justified his price tag in the IPL 2021 as he is the leading wicket-taker for his franchise KKR and has also contributed with the bat. He almost sealed the match against CSK with his sheer batting brilliance but went short of his partner from another end. Cummins plundered massive unbeaten 66 runs in 34 balls with the help of four boundaries and six sixes in the match against CSK.

His absence will be a huge loss for Shahrukh Khan owned Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), which registered a disappointing performance in the first half of the IPL 2021. KKR managed to win mere two games out of seven.
