India vs England 2nd ODI: KL Rahul answered critics with a fine ODI hundred in the 2nd ODI against England.

India vs England 2nd ODI: Team India’s dashing batsman KL Rahul slams his fifth ODI hundred as he guides India to 226 for six in 50 overs in the ongoing second One Day International match at Maharashtra Cricket Stadium Pune.

Having got criticised for lean form in the recent T20Is, KL Rahul showed enough temperament to catapult himself back and amass good runs in the 50 overs format. Rahul scored his fifth ODI hundred in 108 balls and is the only player to slam a ton in the ongoing ODI between India and England.

Rahul did his signature celebration of closing his eyes and ears after reaching the ton and said, “It was pretty self-explanatory. It was just to shut out the noise. Not to disrespect anyone, but there are people out there who try to pull you down, at times you need to ignore them. So that’s just a message to shut out that noise.”

The right-handed batsman was dismissed by Tom Curran in 45th over after he screed 108 runs. In his innings, he smacked seven fours and two sixes striking at 94.74.

In the first ODI, Rahul scored an unbeaten half-century guiding India to a good total.

Rahul was dropped from India’s T20I playing 11 in the last game after a string of poor scores.

Ahead of the second ODI, Rahul said that he didn’t get enough game time while he can spend a little more time settling him in the ODIs.

“I feel being in the middle and playing games is what keeps me in good touch. Having not got as much game time as I would have liked, I mean I won’t say it did not play on my mind, but somehow or the other you have to find a way to be best prepared, be it at training or open net sessions.”

Cricket legends and veterans went wild as he smacked his comeback century. Here are some of the reactions:
