KL Rahul handed INR 24 Lakhs fine for slow over-rate against Mumbai Indians in IPL 2022: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper KL Rahul has been found guilty of maintaining a slow over-rate during the match against Mumbai Indians (MI), last night (April 24) and was subsequently handed an INR 24 Lakhs fine. Moreover, his teammates have also been fined INR 6 Lakhs or 25 per cent of their match fee, whichever is less.

Notably, this is KL Rahul’s second offence of the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 and hence the charges were increased. However, if Rahul commits another slow over-rate offence, he will be banned for one match along with paying INR 30 Lakhs as a penalty.

Besides, Rahul, Mumbai skipper Rohit Sharma has also been penalised twice in the ongoing season of the Tata IPL 2022 due to a slow over-rate offence. Both the captains will get banned for a match if they don’t keep a track of time.

“The Lucknow Super Giants have been fined after they maintained a slow over-rate during their TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 match against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on April 24,” a statement read released by the IPL.

“This was the team’s second offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to a minimum over-rate offences. Lucknow Super Giants captain, KL Rahul was fined Rs 24 lakhs and the rest of the members in the playing eleven were fined Rs 6 lakhs or 25 per cent of their match fee, whichever is lower,” the statement added.

Despite getting slapped with heavy fines, KL Rahul would be pleased with the kind of cricket they have played against Mumbai Indians. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) thrashed Mumbai by 36 runs and seized their fifth victory of the season.

LSG is now a couple of wins away from getting their playoff berth confirmed. While Mumbai Indians on the other side now have no chance to make it to the top four. With eight consecutive losses, MI is the first team in the history of the Tata Indian Premier League to maintain such a lean start.
