Vivo IPL 2021: After a string of losses in the Vivo IPL 2021, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have managed to seal their second win of the season defeating Punjab Kings (PBKS) by five wickets at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.

Eoin Morgan’s KKR surviving initial jitters against Punjab Kings, somehow successfully managed to chase the modest total of 124 runs in 16.4 overs in the loss of five wickets. Skipper Eoin Morgan despite not having a fluent innings held his nerves to cross the lines and secure a win. He remained unbeaten 47 runs off 40 deliveries while Rahul Tripathi scored 41 runs in 32 balls before getting caught by Shahrukh Khan off Deepak Hooda in the 11th over.

The stress to KKR’s opening continues as both the openers once again failed to produce a solid stand in pursuit of the modest total against Punjab Kings. Openers Shubman Gill (9 off 8) and Nitish Rana (Golden duck) were sent back cheaply inside the first two overs by Punjab bowlers.

Forced to bat first at Narendra Modi Stadium, Punjab Kings lost their first wicket in the final over of the powerplay. Speedster Pat Cummins provided the initial breakthrough as he dismissed PBKS skipper KL Rahul(19 off 20).

Mayank Agarwal amassed a hard fought 34 balls 31 before getting dismissed by Sunil Narine. Agarwal hit two sixes and a four in his short innings.

Nicholas Pooran scored a run a ball 19 with the help of a four and a six while Chris Jordan looked fluent. The England bowling all-rounder scored quickfire 18 balls 30 to power Punjab Kings innings to 132 in the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. He smacked three sixes and a four in his small cameo innings at the backend.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) skipper Eoin Morgan was adjudged as the “Player of the Match” for his calm and sensible knock of unbeaten 47 off 40.
