KXIP New Name: Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) changes name to Punjab Kings ahead of IPL 2021.

KXIP New Name: As reported earlier, the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) have opted for a name change and the franchise will now be called Punjab Kings. The team captained by Kannur Lokesh Rahul and owned by Mohit Burman, Ness Wadia and Preity Zinta will enter the IPL 2021 auction with the new name and identity.

“The team was planning to change the name for a long time and thought it should be done before this IPL. So it is not a sudden decision,” a BCCI source told PTI on Monday.

The franchise has communicated about the name change while the written approval from BCCI is still pending. Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) new name will be Punjab Kings from IPL 2021.

The franchise will attend the auction on 18th February in Chennai with the new name and the logo for which is not revealed.

The official confirmation on the logo change is not yet disclosed by the franchise.

Punjab Kings last season put up a roller coaster show as they bounced back with back to back wins after a horrible opening to the season. KL Rahul and Co. won five back to back games to keep their playoffs hope alive. Although CSK pushed Punjab Kings out of the IPL campaign in the do-or-die game and the team finished third last.

Punjab Kings IPL 2021 Auction Preview:

Punjab Kings has the highest purse value left for the upcoming IPl auction. The franchise will attend the auction with whopping INR 53.2 Crores.

A total of 9 slots will be required to fill to which 5 will be overseas players. Punjab Kings will have a perfect opportunity to run after the key players to acquire them as they have the most money.
