The third edition of Sri Lanka’s flagship T20 tournament, Lanka Premier League (LPL) is set to commence on December 6 with Jaffna Kings facing Galle Gladiators at Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium, Hambantota. Originally, season three of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) was scheduled to be held in the month of August, but, because of poor economic circumstances and political unrest in the country, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) decided to postpone the T20 tournament indefinitely.
However, to enthral the cricket fans, the league is back to provide high-class entertainment to the fans for straight 17 days. As many as 24 matches in the double round-robin format will be held between five teams across three venues in Sri Lanka.
The last season of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) was won by Jaffna Kings as they defeated Galle Gladiators by 23 runs in the summit clash. With the win, Jaffna Kings clinched their second consecutive LPL title.
