Lowest T20 score: Sydney Thunder bowled out for 15 runs by Adelaide Strikers in Big Bash League (BBL) 2022: In an insanely embarrassing moment in the Big Bash League (BBL) history, Sydney Thunders have been bundled out for a mere score of 15 runs by Adelaide Strikers in the fifth game of the BBL season 12. The score has now become the lowest total record in the history of the T20 sport.

The innings which couldn’t last for more than 40 minutes, saw a top score of 4 runs, which came in the form of a boundary from the bat of specialist pacer Brendan Doggett. Only a solitary boundary could be scored in the entire Sydney Thunder innings.

Adelaide Strikers’ Henry Thornton (5-3) returned with five wickets by giving away mere three runs in 2.5 overs while Wes Agar (4-6) nicely complemented from the other end to scalp four wickets.

At the end of the powerplay, Sydney Thunder was terribly bruised with the fall of six wickets at the team score of 9 runs. Their innings lasted only 35 deliveries and fell well short to surpass the previous lowest total of 57 runs in BBL history.

Matthew Short laid down the foundation of mass destruction with the wicket of Matthew Gilkes in the first over. Henry Thornton and Wes Agar then ran riot with their probing bowling and scalped nine wickets in quick succession to end what eventually became the easiest victory for Adelaide Strikers.

Earlier in the innings, Adelaide Strikers won the toss and decided to bat first. The Thunders looked in complete control during the first innings as they restricted Strikers to a below-par total of 139 runs in 20 overs.

Strikers’ Chris Lynn scored the highest runs (36) for the team in just 27 deliveries with the help of four boundaries and a maximum. All-rounder Colin de Grandhomme contributed well with 33 runs to put 139 runs on the board.

Fazalhaq Faroozi scalped three wickets against Adelaide Strikers in his four overs. Two wickets apiece were bagged by Gurinder Sandhu, Daniel Sams and Brendan Doggett.

In response to a low total (139), Sydney Thunders lost their first wicket in the opening over of the innings. Matthew Short got rid of Matthew Gilkes for a duck. Henry Thornton, then trapped Rilee Rossouw in the second ball of his over for 3 runs.

As many as five ducks were recorded in the entire Strikers innings. Besides, Matthew Gilkes, the other four ducks were scored by Alex Hales, skipper Jason Sangha, Chris Green and Gurinder Sandhu.

In mere 35 deliveries (5.5 overs), the entire Adelaide Strikers unit was back in the hut at a score of 15 runs, which has now become the lowest-ever total in the history of T20 cricket.
