LSG Survive Late Scare to Beat KKR by 4 Runs | IPL 2025 Points Table Updated After Eden Gardens Thriller
KKR vs LSG: In a high-scoring thriller at Eden Gardens, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) edged past Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by just 4 runs to clinch a nail-biting victory in the TATA IPL 2025. Despite a mammoth total and an electrifying chase, it was LSG who held their nerve and walked away with two crucial points.
After being put in to bat, Lucknow Super Giants unleashed absolute mayhem with the bat. Their top order looked unstoppable. Aiden Markram gave them a flying start, and although Mitchell Marsh took a few overs to get into rhythm, once he found his touch, he was ruthless.
Markram and Marsh stitched a 99-run stand for the opening wicket. After Markram's dismissal just short of his fifty, Nicholas Pooran joined Marsh, and together they took the KKR bowlers to the cleaners. Marsh blazed his way from 50 to 81 in just 12 deliveries, while Pooran smashed a 21-ball fifty to power LSG to a towering 238/3.
In response, KKR got off to a flying start themselves. Sunil Narine fired early, and although Quinton de Kock fell cheaply, Ajinkya Rahane took control and built solid partnerships — especially a crucial 50+ stand with Venkatesh Iyer. KKR were 90/1 in the powerplay and looked set to chase down the massive total.
But the tide turned in the last 7 overs. LSG skipper Rishabh Pant slowed things down cleverly, managing his bowlers perfectly. Shardul Thakur broke the key partnership, and KKR suddenly collapsed, losing 5 wickets for just 23 runs. Despite a late effort from Rinku Singh, the target proved just out of reach, and KKR fell short by 4 runs.
