Mumbai Indians have made a staggering comeback in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. After finishing last on the points table last year and struggling in the initial part this season, the five-time champions have now taken the league by storm and are the red-hot favourites to qualify for the playoffs. They are currently 3rd on the points table with 14 points and it’s fair to say that one more win would take them through.

Mumbai Indians produced another dominating performance in the IPL 2023 as they thumped Gujarat Titans by 27 runs to earn two important points to their name. Asked to bat first, skipper Rohit Sharma (29) and Ishan Kishan took them off the flier as they smashed 61 runs for the opening partnership.
But after that, they lost a few quick wickets and were reduced to 88/3. It was then Suryakumar Yadav’s show as he smashed a blistering century and ended with the knock of unbeaten 103 runs that took Mumbai Indians to a total of 218 runs. For GT, Rashid Khan was the pick of the bowlers as he picked four wickets.

Defending the target, MI bowlers Akash Madhwal and Jason Behrendroff took wickets up front with the new ball before spinners chipped in and reduced the opposition to 103/8. But Rashid Khan kept fighting hard as he smashed unbeaten 79 runs and took his team to 191 runs. Akash Madhwal was the pick of the bowlers as he returned with the figures of 3/31.

Following Mumbai Indians’ win over GT, they achieved two massive records. They became the first team to defeat defending champions in their away game this season and also became the first team to defend total against the Hardik Pandya-led side for the record two times.
