Lucknow Super Giants pacer Mark Wood ruled out of IPL 2022 due to an elbow injury: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), one of the two new entrants of the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL), has sustained an early blow as premier English pacer Mark Wood has been ruled out of the IPL 2022 after picking up an elbow injury. Wood sustained an elbow injury during the opening test match against West Indies in North Sound last week.

The England Cricket Board (ECB’s) medical team has delivered the reports of the pacer to Lucknow SuperGiants. The IPL franchise is yet to finalise a suitable replacement for the injured player.

The Englishmen was bagged by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) during the recent player auction for a whopping sum of INR 7.5 Crores.

Wood’s participation in the Tata IPL 2022 came amidst jeopardy after he walked off the field during the first test against West Indies after delivering just 17 overs. The pacer then underwent a fitness test in which he could only bowl just six deliveries and experienced acute pain in his right elbow.

After comprehensive reports, Wood was left out of England’s primary playing11 for the ongoing second test match against West Indies.

Earlier, Wood’s compatriot Jason Roy ruled himself out of the Tata IPL 2022 citing bubble fatigue. The batter was roped in by Gujarat Titans (GT) for his base price of INR 2 Crores during the player auction held in February. Roy further took an indefinite break from all forms of cricket.

Meanwhile, the KL Rahul-led Lucknow SuperGiants (LSG) will kickstart its IPL 2022 campaign against Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans (GT) on March 28th in the Wankhede Stadium.
