Lucknow Super Giants: SWOT Analysis After IPL 2022 Mega Auction.

Here is a quick analysis of what the latest entrant, the most expensive franchise in the IPL, has done at the auction table. In general view, the team has done very well to make a well-balanced team.

The Lucknow Super Giants is making a debut in the IPL scene this season. The LSG team has, however, done a great job at the auction table. They have the likes of Gautam Gambhir, Andy Flower, and Vijay Dahiya in management. This team has performed exceptionally well at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction covering all bases. It is the only team that spent its entire purse of 90 Crores exactly. Here is a quick analysis of the team:

Lucknow Super Giants Team:

Strengths of the Lucknow Super Giants:

T20 is a game of floaters and game-changers. Lucknow Super Giants have made sure to cover all these bases and are filled with all-rounders. Marcus Stoinis, Jason Holder, Krunal Pandya, and Deepak Hooda are the top players in this category and Lucknow has them all. According to the requirement, the batsmen can be floated. If you want to hold the innings, Krunal can do that, if you want to attack Hooda and Stoinis will get the job done. Nicholas Pooran took home 10+ crores and they got an equally effective Quinton De Kock at 6.25 Crores.

Weakness of LSG:

The team has all bases covered and to find a weakness would mean knit-picking. From number 4 to number 7 the team doesn’t have a specialist batsman but relies on all-rounders. Now, this can eventually mean over-dependence which works both ways. They have a good starting XI which directly falls into place. But the Indian backups are not very formidable.

Opportunities for the Lucknow Super Giants:

The biggest opportunity is for Manish Pandey. Pandey is looking to make a comeback to the national team. At Lucknow, he will get ample opportunities to bat at number 3, a place he likes. Ravi Bishnoi is looking to seal a spot in the national team ahead of Yuzi and other spinners. He will be the leader of the spin attack.

Threats to LSG:

The only threat possible is if KL Rahul doesn’t stay expressive at the top. He has to play freely while Manish Pandey can play the anchor. If KL doesn’t express himself, his worth drops. Ankit Rajpoot is generally very effective but if his day goes bad, it goes very very bad. He leaks run faster than a flowing river. They should hope he bowls well.

Expected Playing XI:

KL Rahul (C), Quinton De Kock, Manish Pandey, Deepak Hooda, Krunal Pandya, Marcus Stoinis, Jason Holder, Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan, Mark Wood, Ankit Rajpoot.

X-Factor Players:

KL Rahul is the biggest name on the team. He can win you games in the powerplay overs itself. Krunal and Deepak have a lot to offer and many points to prove. The team is full of match-winners.
