The Lucknow Super Giants have figured out how the IPL works. They managed to make the playoffs in their first season. It was a whirlwind inning by Rajat Patidar that knocked them out; otherwise, they were in contention for the TATA IPL title. The team did rely on their top line to do most of the scoring, though. Their middle order wasn’t tested much, apart from one good inning from Ewin Lewis and a few cameos from Deepak Hooda. So, who will be their key players in TATA IPL 2023? Here is a look:
Quinton De Kock will be a Key Player for the Lucknow Super Giants in TATA IPL 2023:
Quinton De Kock will have a shared responsibility with KL Rahul to do most of the scoring. This dynamic duo notched up 30% of the total runs scored by their team in TATA IPL 2022. Now that speaks a lot about their ability. De Kock being left-handed will have to neutralize the left-arm pacers against whom KL Rahul struggles. The Lucknow Super Giants will be expecting the South African to hit prime form.
If De Kock gets going Rahul can take his time to settle down. The only point of concern is that when De Kock bats, the opposition tackles him with an off-spinner. He is working on this weakness and soon will be at his blazing best. One can never forget his innings of 140 runs against the KKR team in TATA IPL 2022 while opening for the Lucknow Super Giants.
Krunal Pandya/Deepak Hooda will be a Key Player for the Lucknow Super Giants in TATA IPL 2023:
Both the Indian all-rounders will have a responsibility of taking care of the middle order of the Lucknow Super Giants. Deepak Hooda is more of a batting all-rounder while Krunal Pandya is a bowling all-rounder. Krunal has been off-color in the past few IPL seasons but the LSG management needs to back his talent as he is a big match player. Krunal gives the LSG team the left-arm spinner option and hence he is a key player.
That skill is rare and works effectively against right-handers. Deepak Hooda is a floater. He can be used anywhere in the batting order. But to make optimum use of his skill he must play at number 4 or 5. Below that it is a waste of a true asset. Here is a look at Deepak’s Stats:

Ravi Bishnoi will be a Key Player:
Ravi Bishnoi is the spin spearhead of the Lucknow Super Giants. He will have to make sure that the 4 overs of his are economical and if not economical, he needs to send maximum batters to the pavilion. Gautam Gambhir backs Ravi Bishnoi. He trusts this Rajasthani youngster’s ability. Bishnoi is also tough to pick because he has a quick round-arm action similar to Rashid Khan. But Bishnoi’s stock delivery is the googly.
He bowls the googly more than 50% of the time. The batters play for the conventional turn and get beaten. Ravi Bishnoi has slid down the ranks of the Indian Cricket Team since the arrival of Kuldeep Yadav and hence a good TATA IPL 2023 will do wonders for him.
