Lucknow SuperGiants (LSG) Playing11 in IPL 2022, Complete Squad and Players: Lucknow SuperGiants (LSG) is one of the two new teams that have been added to the Indian T20 extravaganza by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The team auction was organised in Dubai, last year, to finalise the two new sides that will become functional from the next season onwards.

Surprisingly, RPSG Group, which owns Lucknow Super Giants, placed a hefty bid of INR 7090 Crores. No one could match the colossal bid and the BCCI gave away the operational rights of Lucknow to RPSG.

Lucknow SuperGiants did fantastic work during the two-day mega auction. On paper, Lucknow looks challenging squad with sufficient firepower in its players to compete with nine other IPL sides. Besides their average purchases, Lucknow SuperGiants managed to get a couple of fantastic players in their arsenal.

Ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction, Lucknow SuperGiants (LSG) signed the likes of KL Rahul (INR 17 Crores), Marcus Stoinis (INR 9.2 Crores) and Ravi Bishnoi (INR 4 Crores) as their top three draft picks.

Overall LSG is equipped with a total of 21 players in the squad for the upcoming fifteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The franchise definitely wanted to buy a couple of more players, but they had already exhausted their purse value, which became their major disappointment.

Lucknow SuperGiants (LSG) Playing11 for IPL 2022:

Lucknow is fortunate to have already sorted out its opening combination which is the most crucial aspect of the playing11. KL Rahul was their foremost draft pick player while LSG bolstered its squad with South African opener batsman Quinton de Kock. Both the aforementioned players will open the innings for Lucknow SuperGiants.

Both KL Rahul and De Kock have a proven track record in international cricket. Even their previous performances in the IPL speaks volumes of their abilities. Rahul has been a spectacular batter in the IPL over the last couple of years. His sheer consistency is something that has received a lot of praises of late. KL is breaching the 500 runs mark on the trott since the IPL 2018 and has also won an Orange Cap award in the IPL 2020.

Meanwhile, Quinton de Kock has also performed consistently in the IPL for Mumbai Indians. His appearance in the IPL 2021 remained a bit on and off. Despite a rough patch the South African managed to score 297 runs at a decent average of 29.70.

Manish Pandey will follow the two openers for Lucknow. Pandey has a decent track record in the IPL and is a genuine middle-order batsman. For SRH as well, Manish Pandey used to bat in the middle order. But the cricketer went through a pale form in the last IPL season due to which he was dropped from the playing11. However, he can deliver impactful performances, given that he will come in to bat at number 3 and get a lot of time to settle in.

Baroda all-rounder Deepak Hooda will be at four. Lucknow bagged the services of the all-rounder for INR 5.75 Crores during the mega auction. Hooda had recently received his maiden ODI and T20I cap owing to his brilliant domestic performance.

Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis will follow Hooda. KL Rahul and Lucknow would want Stoinis to be flexible and bat as per the team’s need. He is a very clever operator of the ball as well. The Aussie can effectively be used as the bowler who can complete its quota of 4 overs with a decent economy.

Former Mumbai Indians all-rounder Krunal Pandya will be in 6th place in the pecking order. The cricketer got bids from multiple franchises during the mega auction 2022, which tells how brilliant he is with his abilities. The Baroda cricketer is a T20 specialist and can express himself with both bat and ball.

Caribbean all-rounder Jason Holder would be at seventh position. Holder is a hard hitter and an intimidating batsman. He can tonk massive hits at the backend of the innings. His short knock in the death overs would be crucial for Lucknow SuperGiants to set a big total.

Lucknow will choose Mark Wood, Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan and Krishnappa Gowtham as specialist bowlers.

English pacer Mark Wood can trouble the batsman with his raw pace. Wood is known to clock 150 kmph easily. He uses his well-directed bouncers to his advantage and provides immediate breakthroughs.

Krishnappa Gowtham and Ravi Bishnoi will be two specialist spinners for Lucknow. While Gowtham was bagged by LSG for INR 90 Lakhs, young Bishnoi was picked for 4 Crores. Both the spinners can bowl in tandem.

Former Delhi Capitals (DC) pacer Avesh Khan would be the 11th player for LSG. Khan was magnificent with his bowling in the IPL 2021. He overshadowed the likes of Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje in DC as he picked more wickets than them. He finished at 24 wickets in the IPL 2021 with the tag of second-highest wicket-taker.
