Most Valuable IPL Team of 2022 – Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings: Forbes: Five-time champions, Mumbai Indians may be struggling to get their first win of the season, however, a report published in Forbes shows that the consistency of the franchise over the years has reaped fruitful results in the long run for them, as they are the most valuable Indian Premier League team in 2022.
According to the report, Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians (MI) is the most valuable IPL team of 2022 with a value of $1.3 billion. The franchise boasts a revenue of $33 million and an operating income of $5.5 million. Second to Mumbai Indians in the Forbes list is four-time champions, Chennai Super Kings at a value of $1.15 billion.
The two teams, Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings share nine IPL trophies among them (5- Mumbai Indians, 4- Chennai Super Kings).

The report says that investing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) has paid high dividends to the investors. From 2008 to 2022, the franchises have seen 24 per cent annual growth, making it a gold mine for the investors. Moreover, the average value of the franchise has grown from $67 million in 2008 to $1.04 billion in 2022.
“The IPL is the most prominent cricket league in the world in terms of attracting sponsors and media rights. A lot of credit goes to founders of the IPL, who took ideas from the NBA and European soccer leagues, and good governance by the BCCI with regards to clear visibility of team funding and ensuring the tournament continued during Covid,” Forbes quotes Ajimon Francis, managing director at Brand Finance India, a brand valuation and strategy consultancy.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, the top two evaluated IPL teams, are enduring a horrible time in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). MI has failed miserably to clinch their first win of the tournament while Chennai Super Kings is hanging at the penultimate position with just two wins from eight matches.
