MS Dhoni's childhood coach Keshav Ranjan Banerjee provided a massive update about the availability of Chennai Super Kings skipper for next edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. He said that the keeper-batter wants to groom team and is likely to be there next season as well.

Chennai Super Kings keeper-batter MS Dhoni has been in the news ever since the IPL 2025 started. It was widely speculated that ongoing season will be his last in the league, especially him being in his late 40s and his retirement talks being there since last few years.

However, in the ongoing season, things changed drastically for MS Dhoni. After Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out of the tournament, the keeper-batter was handed the captaincy in the mid season but the franchise didn't have a great as they were first team to be eliminated from the tournament.

However, MS Dhoni has been focused on building team for next seson. The keeper-batter openly has admitted that they will now be focusing on the next year. But the big question remains if the keeper-batter will be there for the next edition or not.

So, we might see him play in the next IPL as well - Keshav Ranjan Banerjee on MS Dhoni

However, MS Dhoni's childhood coach has dropped a massive hint. He said that everyone wants him to play for the next season but only he knows what he will do. Keshav Ranjan Banerjee added that he wanted to groom the team and will be there next season as well. Speaking to Times Now, he said:

"Only he (MS Dhoni) knows whether this year is his last year in the IPL. We all want him to play as long as he can," Banerjee said.

"CSK might have parted with him before the IPL 2025 auction if they wanted. However, they wanted Dhoni to stay so that he could groom this team. So, we might see him play in the next IPL as well."

Chennai Super Kings have been eliminated from the tournament. They have just few games remaining and it remains to be seen how they perform in last few games.
