Vivo IPL 2021: The five times champion franchise, Mumbai Indians (MI) on Sunday announced that all their overseas recruits of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 have landed safely in their respective destinations following the indefinite suspension of the lucrative league due to emerging Covid-19 cases inside the bio-bubbles.

The fourteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was suspended indefinitely midway by the BCCI on 3rd May after multiple players and support staff tested covid positive.

The franchise took to Twitter and wrote, “All foreign members of the MI contingent have reached their destinations safe & sound. Paltan, make sure you follow all safety protocols. Stay at home. Stay safe.”

Mumbai Indians (MI) had signed 14 overseas players, support staff for the Vivo IPL 2021. All the recruits have reached their destinations on 9th May.

According to the franchise, West Indies all-rounder, Kieron Pollard reached Trinidad while wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock and pacer Marco Jansen have landed in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The Australian recruits have been airlifted to the Maldives as the Australian government has banned flights connecting India. Chris Lynn, Nathan Coulter Nile and Strength and conditioning coach Paul Chapman will board flights to Australia once they become eligible after 14 days’ quarantine. Mumbai Indians (MI) head coach Mahela Jayawardene is also in the Maldives.

The New Zealand recruits with the likes of pacer Trent Boult, James Neesham, Adam Milne and support staff members have safely reached Auckland via a chartered flight arranged by the franchise.

Due to the unprecedented rise in the covid-19 cases in the country, the most lucrative T20 league of the World was called off. India in the last 24 hours recorded more than 4 lakhs of covid cases with over 400 deaths.
