Vivo IPL 2021: Defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) have completed its squad for the upcoming second leg of the Indian Premier League 2021. The franchise welcomed its skipper Rohit Sharma, ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah and stylish batter Suryakumar Yadav on Saturday in the UAE.

The three aforementioned cricketers along with their families will undergo six days of strict quarantine before heading out for their first practice session. As reported, all the members tested covid negative before their departure from Manchester and after their arrival in the UAE as well.

Mumbai Indians shared the news with all its fans and released a statement that read, “Mumbai Indians flew in three of its Indian contingent members, captain Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and Suryakumar Yadav, to Abu Dhabi on a private charter flight. The trio, along with their families, arrived today morning and will now undergo six days hard quarantine, starting today as per the IPL’s guidelines. All members had returned negative RT PCR results before departure. A new RT PCR test was undertaken upon arrival at Abu Dhabi, which are negative as well.” 

INDvsENG 5th Test match cancelled:

The unwrapped five matches test series got surrounded with the dark clouds of covid fear before the proceeding of the fifth test match at Manchester after a fresh covid positive report came from the Indian camp on the eve of the test. Earlier head coach Ravi Shastri along with Bharat Arun, R Sridhar and Nitin Patel were isolated after they got infected with covid19 virus while assistant physio of team India Yogesh Parmar was the latest member to return covid positive from the Indian camp.

A few reports from top media outlets informed that a few Indian players got jitters following Parmar’s covid positive report and were reluctant to play the test match. After multiple rounds of discussions of ECB and BCCI, the call off of the Manchester test was confirmed. The Indian board has proposed the idea of scheduling the match next year while confirmation from ECB is yet to come. 

“Due to fears of a further increase in the number of COVID cases inside the camp, India are regrettably unable to field a team,” said ECB in a statement.

Senior opener Rohit Sharma and pacer Jasprit Bumrah emerged as the top performer for team India in the test series. Sharma plundered 368 runs in four matches with a century and two half-centuries. While Bumrah on the other hand took the best leverage of the surface on offer to scalp 18 wickets in the Test series. 

CSK and RCB also plans to bring their players to the UAE:

Besides Mumbai Indians, RCB and CSK management is also planning to bring in their players for the second phase. 

“Now that the Test match is off, we are looking to get the CSK boys into Dubai tomorrow,” said CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan to ANI. 

All the players of both the aforementioned franchises are expected to reach UAE by Sunday morning with separate charter flights arranged by the management.
