Mohammad Shami became the chief architect of the destruction as he scalped three wickets. Hardik Pandya and Washington Sundar got two apiece in their bags. While Mohammad Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav and Shardul Thakur got solitary wickets each.

In pursuit of a scanty total, the Indian openers against stitched up a beautiful opening stand. Skipper Rohit Sharma played the aggressor’s role and completed his half-century in 47 deliveries. However, he was caught lbw soon after his fifty and the skipper departed. Meanwhile, Shubman Gill held his end and scored unbeaten 40 runs in 53 deliveries.

India fetched the 108-run total in 20.1 overs in the loss of two wickets and put the stamp of authority over New Zealand. Shami was adjudged the Player of the Match for his critical bowling.
