New Zealand to travel with a 20 member squad for the ICC T20 World Cup in India.

New Zealand head coach Garry Stead in the recent conversation with stuff.co.nz said that the team will travel with 20 members for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup which will be hosted by India. The length of the squad has been increased due to the complications posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Before the pandemic, the teams were happy to go with 15 or 16 players for a tour however the scenarios are changed now after the world has suffered the harsh pandemic. Now the teams prefer going with a larger contingent.

?The way Covid is at the moment and the way the world is changing so quickly, I?d probably expect there could be up to 20 people in the squad,? Stead was quoted as saying by stuff.co.nz.

?The bigger squad has several advantages as it helps to create a balance throughout the tournament as you have players who are ready to go.?

Stead said that they might opt for players who haven?t played a single for New Zealand in the shortest format.

?I think it?s realistic to expect that there could be guys selected to go to the World Cup later in the year, who may not have played for New Zealand (in T20s).?

The ICC T20 World Cup is scheduled to take place in India later this year in October-November.

Australia to tour New Zealand for five T20Is:

Right now, New Zealand will be playing against Australia in the five games T20I series, starting from Monday.

?Australia are a dangerous team and will be hard to beat. The players will be high in their form after the Big Bash League.?

?There might not be the players that we expected to see but still they are hard. Their lineup is big and they all carry class.?
