New Zealand took up 1-0, as the hosts beat West Indies by an innings and 134 runs in the 1st Test.
The first test between New Zealand and West Indies ended with the hosts taking up a 1-0 lead as New Zealand beat West India by an inning and 134 runs in the 1st Test game of the two-match series. The home side scored 519 runs for seven declared, while West Indies managed to get 138 runs in the first innings. After a huge target, Williamson forced to follow on.

New Zealand after losing the toss, imposed a huge total of 519 runs. Kane Williamson stars with his career-best 251 runs while Tom Latham supported with his 86 runs. Kayle Jamieson also completed his maiden test fifty.
Visitors All Out:
In response to the mammoth total, West Indies could not control the innings as no batsmen managed to cross 30 runs mark in the first innings. As a result, visitors got all out in 138 runs. Tim Southee stars with the ball in the first innings picking 4 scalps.
New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson forced follow on to the visitors, the kiwis were still 381 runs ahead. The second innings after follow-on could only manage to get 247 runs before getting all out.
Williamson led side was in toll to dismiss the West Indies twice in the same day, closing the game with a comfortable win. However, a rearguard partnership from Jermaine Blackwood and Alzari Joseph kept them alive on the third day.
Jermaine Blackwood completed his maiden Test century on the fourth day. Blackwood fell for 104 runs after his counterpart Alzari Joseph was caught in the deep for 86 runs.
West Indies were bowled out for 247 runs after a frustrating partnership from Blackwood and Joseph for 155 runs.

Record Win for New Zealand:
This is the record win for New Zealand as they broke their previous best against West Indies. A win of an inning and 104 runs was overshadowed by a win of an innings and 134 runs in the first Test match at ย Seddon Park, Hamilton.
This win will bring them closer to the third position in the World Test Championship Points Table. However, a clean sweep will put them in the third position and even at number 2 depending upon the results of India vs Australia.
