IPL 2025: The eighteenth edition of the richest domestic T20 league–The INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE– is just around the corner, and the buzz of the 2025 season is just growing higher and higher. With thrilling matches from the very start, the excitement around TATA IPL 2025 is building up, leaving fans wondering where they can watch the tournament.

Like the previous year, the broadcasting rights for television are with STAR SPORTS Networks, so you can watch the TATA IPL 2025 on TV on Star Sports 1 (Hindi) and Star Sports 2 (English).

No More Free IPL 2025 Streaming

Since 2023, JioCinema has been offering IPL streaming for free after securing a $3 billion broadcasting deal for five years. Now, the IPL 2025 will not be streamed on the JIOCinema APP or Website.

JioHotstar, the newly launched streaming platform from JioStar, has introduced a hybrid subscription model, ending completely free IPL streaming. Formed after the merger of Viacom18 and Star India, JioStar aims to enhance the viewing experience with nearly 3 lakh hours of entertainment and over 50 crore users. However, cricket fans will now have limited free access, making it necessary to subscribe to watch full matches.

Starting from IPL 2025, viewers will only be able to watch a few minutes of a match before being redirected to a subscription page, with plans starting at ₹149.

However, following an $8.5 billion merger between Mukesh Ambani's Reliance and Walt Disney, the streaming model has changed. A source revealed that the platform will first engage users with free content before introducing paid subscriptions, which may start at different times for each viewer.

JIOHOTSTAR Plans and Subscriptions

JioHotstar will offer a basic subscription plan for ₹149 and an ad-free version for ₹499 (valid for three months). The platform will continue to stream major sports events, including IPL, ICC tournaments, and WPL, along with international leagues like the Premier League and Wimbledon. Additionally, it will feature domestic competitions such as Pro Kabaddi and ISL, expanding its sports coverage beyond cricket.

For JIO SIM users, there is a plan of Rs. 195 where the users will get a three-month subscription to JIOHotstar Mobile. Along with it, they will get 15GB of high-speed data as well.

Beyond just sports, JioHotstar promises an upgraded viewing experience with ultra-HD 4K streaming, AI-powered insights, multi-angle viewing, and real-time statistics. With its wide content library and immersive technology, the platform aims to compete with major players like Netflix and Amazon Prime in India’s $28-billion media and entertainment market.
