Vivo IPL 2021: Cricket Australia (CA) on Tuesday said that the board will not look for any exemptions for the Australian participants in IPL from the Government. Though they will coordinate with its BCCI counterparts to ensure the safety of the players for the time being, till the flights are banned from India.

The BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla on Tuesday announced the suspension of the Indian Premier League (IPL) for an indefinite period of time following the multiple covid-cases inside the bio-bubble.

Australian Cricket Association (ACA) and Cricket Australia (CA) in a joint statement said that they will look for ways forward for the safe home delivery of the players in these testing times.

“CA and the ACA respect the decision of the Australian Government to pause travel from India until at least May 15 and will not seek exemptions,” the joint statement said.

“CA is in direct contact with the BCCI as they work through plans to ensure the safe accommodation and repatriation of Australian players, coaches, match officials and commentators back home to Australia.”

Cricket Australia (CA) also thanked BCCI for all the cooperation and efforts taken for the safety of the players.

“CA and the ACA understand the decision of the BCCI to indefinitely postpone the 2021 Indian Premier League for the safety and wellbeing of all participants.

“CA and the ACA thank the BCCI for their efforts and cooperation for the safe repatriation of all participants at the IPL.”

IPL Chairman Brijesh Patel said that the Indian board will “find some ways” to send back the overseas recruits of the IPL at the earliest time possible.

There are as many as 14 Australian players competing in the IPL besides the support staffs, commentators and match officials.
