The road for the T20 World Cup 2024 is on as all the teams have started to sort their combinations for the tournament. The event will be played from 1st June to 30th June in the United States of America and the Caribbean. A total of 20 teams will be taking part and it promises to be an exciting tournament.
Not Pat Cummins or Steve Smith! Australia names their captain for T20 World Cup 2024
Coming to the Australia Cricket Team, they will be one of the hottest favourites to win the T20 World Cup 2024. They have been an absolute beast in the ICC tournaments of late, winning the ICC World Test Championship Final and ICC World Cup 2023. It won’t be a surprise if they win the upcoming event as well.
With T20 World Cup 2024 around the corner, Australia has named their skipper for the tournament. All-rounder Mitchell Marsh will be leading the team in the tournament and the development was confirmed by Australian white-ball coach Andrew McDonald.
He stated that they are happy with the way Mitchell Marsh is leading the team in T20Is and they see him as a leader in the World Cup. Speaking to Cricket Australia, he stated:

“I think all roads will lead to Mitch, so just got to get that ticked off in certain areas. We’re happy and comfortable with the way he’s been able to operate with that T20 team. We think he’s the leader for the World Cup, and I think that will just be a matter of due course.”
It comes as a surprise because Pat Cummins has been magnificent as a leader of the Australian cricket team. With the kind of success, he has got as a skipper, it was expected that he would lead the team in the T20 World Cup 2024. But this hasn’t been the case.
Mitchell Marsh has been doing a decent job as skipper of the Australian team. He has captained the team well. He would be hoping to continue his good record and help the team win the T20 World Cup 2024.
