Ollie Robinson opts to take a short break after fuming twitter controversy.

English 27-years old pacer Ollie Robinson has decided to take a short break from cricket following the twitter controversy.

The pacer was suspended from all forms of international cricket by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) due to his historic tweets which resurfaced on the internet. The ECB is investigating the issue which caused the stir and for the time being, the cricket will not feature in international cricket games.

Robinson’s old tweets, dating back to 2012 and 2013 resurfaced on the internet as soon as he was handed his test cap on June 2. He made derogatory comments on Muslims and people of Asian Heritage that put him into the troubled water.

After the stumps on Day 1 between England and New Zealand, Robinson issued his unreserved apology however it was not enough for his shameful act.

A statement from the player’s county, Sussex, announced: “After a difficult week, Ollie has decided to take a short break from the game to spend time with his young family.”

“When he is ready to return, Ollie will be welcomed back to the club, where discussions with the remainder of the squad over the last week have made clear that he retains the support of all his Sussex teammates.

“We remain in close contact with Ollie from a welfare perspective and will issue further updates on his availability at the relevant times.”

Robinson has got huge support after the controversy brewed. The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom came in support of the cricketer and said that ECB should reconsider its decision.

Oliver Dowden, the UK government’s secretary for culture, sports, digital and media, reckons that the ECB has gone over the top to address the issue with the cricketer.

Apart from these, several former cricketers have supported him on his difficult time.
