PAK vs AFG 2023: Afghanistan announced a strong 16-member Squad for the ODI Series against Pakistan: The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has announced a 16-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Pakistan in Sri Lanka. The series will be played from August 22 to 26, 2023.
The squad includes Players like Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Ibrahim Zadran, and Rahmat Shah, who will lead the batting line-up. The bowling attack is led by Rashid Khan, one of the world’s best bowlers in all formats.
The Leg-spinner Noor Ahmad has returned to the squad after missing the recent ODI series against Bangladesh, whereas left-arm spinner Zia Ur Rahman Akbar and uncapped leg-spinner Izharulhaq Naveed have been left out. Fast bowlers Mohammad Saleem Safi and Wafadar Momand have retained their spots in the squad.
The ACB Chief Selector Asadullah Khan said that the team is focused on preparing for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 and World Cup 2023 and that the three-match ODI series against Pakistan provides them with a wonderful opportunity to do so.
He added that the preparations for the Pakistan series are progressing well and that the team will undergo a week-long conditioning camp prior to the series.
The ODI series against Pakistan will be a good test for Afghanistan, as they will be looking to make a balanced squad for the upcoming major tournament. On the other hand, Pakistan will be looking to play against a strong spin attack to prepare themselves for Indian Conditions.
