PAK vs BAN: Pakistan will be playing their first series since the group exit from the T20 World Cup 2024. They will be hosting Bangladesh for a two-match Test series. This PAK vs BAN series will begin with the first game to be held at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on August 21.
Shan Masood will be back as the captain, while Saud Shakeel has been given the responsibility to assist him as vice-captain. Pakistan are in the mix for qualifying for a place in the World Test Championship 2023-25 final.
They are placed fifth on the table after losing the Test series against Australia 0-3 last year. However, they will be playing nine Test matches in the coming few months. Seven of them are home matches, which gives Pakistan a chance to do well and move up on the WTC table.
PAK vs BAN: Pakistan release Abrar Ahmed and Kamran Ghulam release ahead of the first Test
Pakistan have picked up a pace-heavy attack, and now they have released spinner Abrar Ahmed and top-order batter Kamran Ghulam from the squad. It indicates the plan of the hosts, as they are looking to go with an all-out pace heavy bowling attack in the first test.
Abrar and Kamran will join Pakistan Shaheens for the second four-day clash against Bangladesh A. This four-day match will take place on August 20 in Islamabad. The first four-day game ended in a draw. Abrar has been in and out of the team for a while now but hasn’t gotten many chances to play.
Hence, the Pakistani management wants to give the spinner sufficient time, which he can get by playing the game against Bangladesh A. On the other hand, Kamran will be leading Pakistan Shaheens in this game. These two will join the team ahead of the second PAK vs BAN Test in Lahore. The second PAK vs BAN game will start on August 30.
A number of players like Sarfaraz Ahmed, Saud Shakeel, Mir Hamza, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Huraira, Naseem Shah, and Saim Ayub, who were part of the first four-day game, have now joined the team. Hence, to compensate, Abrar and Kamran have joined Shaheens with Imam Ul Haq, Ali Zaryab, Niaz Khan, Qasim Akram, Mohammad Awais Anwar, Sharoon Siraj, and Rohail Nazir.
