PAK vs NZ: The road to the upcoming main event T20 World Cup 2024 has begun for Pakistan and New Zealand. After New Zealand announced their squad for the T20I series, the PCB was expected to announce the T20I squad but it has been postponed.
After Pakistan’s tour of New Zealand a few months back, New Zealand are on the tour of Pakistan in the month of April for a five-match T20I match series. The series will kick off on April 18 with the first T20I at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. CLICK HERE for the full PAK vs NZ T20I Schedule.
PAK vs NZ: Pakistan Squad Announcement Date
In the recent update on the squad announcement, the Pakistan Cricket Board resited that by postponing the previously selected date to announce their T20I squad for the New Zealand T20 series, the board will now release the squad on April 8.
Originally slated for April 5, the selectors are anticipated to announce the squad on 8th April after conducting an additional meeting on Sunday. Selectors have returned to Lahore following talks with skipper Babar Azam in Kakul, where the national team is undergoing training under Pakistan Army supervision.
Back as white ball skipper Babar, Saim Ayub, Muhammad Rizwan, Sahibzada Farhan, Salman Ali Agha, Iftikhar Ahmed, Azam Khan, Shadab Khan, Usama Mir, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, Imad Waseem, Muhammad Amir, Zaman Khan, Usman Khan, Wasim Jr, Irfan Niazi, and Abbas Afridi are among the players reportedly being considered for the five-match series. The hand injury sustained by Fakhar Zaman is also being examined and the same goes for Haris Rauf.
Shaheen Shah and Naseem Shah might miss out on the squad following the workload management. They both are the spearheads of the Pakistani bowling unit and PCB is highly attentive to their health and fitness.
The Blackcaps are expected to land in Pakistan on 14 April and they have already announced their squad. Micheal Bracewell is named Captain for the Kiwis squad which will miss some big names like Kane Williamson, Trend Boult, and Tim Southee.
