PAK vs SL 2023: Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah will miss the upcoming Match against Sri Lanka due to injury, Pakistan calls Shahnawaz Dahani and Zaman Khan as backup: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) added two backup players, Shahnawaz Dahani and Zaman Khan, to the Asia Cup squad due to injuries sustained by Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah in the match against India on September 11, 2023.
Pakistan Pacers got injured while playing in the Super Four Stage match of Asia Cup 2023 against India at R. Premadasa Cricket Stadium. Due to a wet outfield, Haris Rauf and Namseem Shah got injured while bowling Indian batters in the first inning of the match.
Both of them did not come to bat in the second inning of the match. Pakistan lost that match by 228 runs against India, and the player of the match was chase master Virat Kohli for his excellent knock of 122 runs. Haris Rauf bowled only five overs in the match against India.
Haris Rauf didn’t play the match on reserve day as he suffered an oblique muscle injury on his right flank. He is expected to get well soon, and he will probably play in the Asia Cup 2023 Finals if Pakistan qualifies.
Naseem Shah suffered an injury in his right shoulder while bowling the 49th over of 1st inning in the India vs Pakistan Super 4 match. The Two key pacers of the Pakistan Team are injured ahead of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023.
Pakistan’s Team Management will monitor them closely and hope for their minor injury so that they can recover quickly and start playing cricket after days.
In response to adding backup, PCB said in the press release, “We have taken a precautionary measure by resting Haris And Naseem to ensure that they are fully fit for the World Cup 2023. If they are not fit for the next seven days then they will be ruled out of the Asi Cup 2023.”
