Pakistan ends Champions Trophy without a single win after the washout vs Bangladesh, Updated Points Table
After a long gap of 29 years, Pakistan got the opportunity to host an ICC tournament as they got the hosting rights of the ICC Men's Champions Trophy 2025. They did their best in publicity and promoting the tournament and fans were very excited to see their team defend the trophy on home soil.
However, all the efforts got wasted as the Shaheens ended their Champions Trophy campaign without winning a single game. Their hopes of ending the tournament on a winning note also got crushed as the match versus Bangladesh got called off due to rain without the toss taking place.
Two back-to-back defeats in the Group Stage
The Green Shirts kicked off their Champions Trophy 2025 campaign versus New Zealand but much to the dismay of their fans, they suffered an embarrassing defeat as they lost by a margin of 60 runs. After this, they travelled to Dubai to take on arch rivals India in hopes of securing a victory, but Rizwan and his Men lost that encounter too as the century of Virat Kohli led to their demise.
They got outclassed in all departments by the Men in Blue, and they were embarrassed in front of a packed Dubai crowd.
Knocked out from the race of the semi-finals
After suffering two consecutive defeats, the Defending Champions got knocked out of the semi-finals race. Their last hope was to Bangladesh's potential win over New Zealand but that didn't materialize either, and both Pakistan & Bangladesh got eliminated from the tournament.
Babar Azam & skipper Mohammad Rizwan, two big names of the team, are being criticised heavily after their poor performances on the field. After both the defeats, there was a turmoil within the entire team.
Match against Bangladesh washed out
Mohammad Rizwan & CO were expected to win the match against Bangladesh, but the team did not get a chance to play. The two teams waited for a few hours for the toss, but the rain did not stop.
