The reports of the fitness test organised by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are out now. Young batter Azam Khan struggled to find his way in the fitness test before eventually failing, while Irfanullah Khan Niazi remained the top performer in the test.
The PCB held a training-cum fitness camp for 29 players, who are on the list of probable to feature in the T20 World Cup 2024, at the Kakul Academy in Abbottabad. On the second day of the fitness camp, Pakistan Cricket underwent a fitness evaluation with a basic 2-kilometer run.
As per the details available, Irfanullah Khan Niazi led the 29-men Pakistani contingent under a record time – 6 minutes and 47 seconds. Senior wicketkeeper batter Mohammad Rizwan, who was one of the participants, completed the run in 8 minutes and 26 seconds.
However, Azam Khan, who is known as one of the bright prospects for Pakistan Cricket, returned with poor figures. Azam Khan couldn’t go beyond 1.5 kilometres in the prescribed 2-kilometre run. He took 20 minutes to cover 1.5 kilometres before eventually stopping.
Other notable names, who took part in the fitness test were Naseem Shah, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammad Harris, Agha Salman and Mohammad Amir among others. Meanwhile, a handful of players have skipped the test.
Babar Azam was not available for the evaluation as he was in Saudi Arabia and is expected to join his mates on Thursday. Fakhar Zaman and Haris Rauf didn’t participate as the two were recovering from their injuries while Imad Wasim pulled out due to a potential knee injury.

Shaheen Afridi: 8 minutes and 37 seconds
Agha Salman: 9 minutes and 20 seconds
Mehran Mumtaz: 8 minutes and 30 seconds
Mohammad Amir: 9 minutes and 30 seconds
Shadab Khan: 9 minutes and 56 seconds
Mohammad Nawaz: 9 minutes and 57 seconds
Mohammad Amir, Imad Wasim takes Retirement U-turn
Notably, the fitness camp organised by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was also participated by veteran bowlers Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim. The two aforementioned players reversed their retirement decision to make themselves available for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and the USA.
Interestingly, PCB named both of them in the list of 29 players shortlisted for a training camp at Kakul Academy in Abbottabad. The other players who were included in the list are:

PCB in a statement mentioned that the fitness camp is organised with the aim of preparing the players for the upcoming T20I series – both home and away – and the impending T20 World Cup 2024.
