Parthiv Patel recalls Virat Kohli saying, “Ye Bumrah-Vumrah kya karenge” in IPL 2014: Former Indian wicketkeeper batter Parthiv Patel has attracted a fresh rift after he recalls Virat Kohli’s words that date back to Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014 on Mumbai Indians (MI) pacer Jasprit Bumrah. The netizens have gone crazy after Parthiv Patel revealed a close conversation with Virat Kohli.

Parthiv revealed that he asked Virat Kohli to have a look at Jasprit Bumrah back in IPL 2014, but the latter didn’t pay any heed to the call. Virat Kohli, in his reply to Parthiv’s call to have a look at Jasprit Bumrah, said, “Chhor na yaar. Ye Bumrah-Vumrah kya karenge?”.

“In 2014, when I was at RCB, I told Kohli there’s this bowler named Bumrah. Have a look at him. Virat replied saying ‘Chhor na yaar. Ye Bumrah-Vumrah kya karenge?’ (Leave it. What will such players do?),” Parthiv told Cricbuzz.

Indian pace spearhead, Jasprit Bumrah, though, was in the scheme of things right from his younger days, but he hopped into the limelight only after the IPL 2015, which turned out to be his breakthrough IPL season.

Since 2015, Jasprit Bumrah has made giant strides in international cricket and has now even become Rohit Sharma’s deputy in the Indian team.

Parthiv Patel watched Jasprit Bumrah from close quarters during his Ranji days in Gujarat. The wicketkeeper batter said that after a couple of bad initial Ranji seasons, Jasprit might have to return home, but he soon began to improve.

“When he was first picked, Bumrah played Ranji Trophy for the first 2-3 years. 2013 was his first year, and he didn’t have a good season in 2014. In 2015, it was so bad that there were discussion(s) going on that he might have to be sent back home mid-season. But, he slowly began improving and Mumbai Indians really backed him. It was his own hard work and such backing that really brought out the best in him,” he added.

Bumrah plays for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The pacer has been an integral part of the Mumbai Indians under Rohit Sharma. He leads the pace attack and more often than not unleashes his best performance.

Owing to his elegant performances in international cricket over the years, Jasprit Bumrah is one of the deadliest pacers in the current times.
