Pat Cummins ruled out of IPL 2025? Star pacer breaks silence on his injury
In what will be a massive boost for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), captain Pat Cummins is all set to play the IPL 2025. The Australia skipper will be making his comeback from the injury through the cash-rich league, which is all set to begin on 22nd March.
Australia captain Pat Cummins has been out of action ever since the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 concluded. The fast bowler faced the ankle injury during the last game of the series and missed the Test series against Sri Lanka due to the same and also he and his wife welcomed their second child.
Things got even worse for Australia and Pat Cummins after the skipper was ruled out of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy with the same injury. In his absence, Steve Smith has been named as the captain of the team, and his absence surely will be a big blow for the team.
With Pat Cummins missing the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, there have been a lot of speculations if the fast bowler is fit to play the IPL 2025 or not. However, he himself confirmed that he will be fit before the league starts, and his aim is to make a comeback through the tournament.
That’s the aim at this stage – start bowling over the next week or so, building up, and should be right for IPL - Pat Cummins
Pat Cummins stressed that playing in the IPL 2025 will be a great build-up for him ahead of the ICC World Test Championship final. While speaking to Cricket Australia, the Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper stated:
“That’s the aim. “It’s four overs in T20s. So physically it’s quite a nice build up for the World Test Championship final, and then the Test matches after that. That’s the aim at this stage – start bowling over the next week or so, building up, and should be right for IPL.
“It’s probably just making sure you’re still bowling quite a few balls (during the IPL). The good thing about a T20 tournament is the intensity is really high, so that obviously helps quite a bit.”
Pat Cummins was one of the major reasons behind the success of Sunrisers Hyderabad in the last year. It was under his leadership that the franchise reached the final of the tournament before losing the final to Kolkata Knight Riders. The pacer led from the front as he picked wickets in all games and also scored crucial runs.
