PCB acts as a betrayal barrier for Shadab Khan! Captaincy taken after being finalised

In what has been the latest development, as per the reports in Cricket Pakistan, it is learned that Shadab Khan was all set to take over the T20I captaincy of Pakistan. But, the offer was rejected by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) ahead of the New Zealand tour.

The new era in Pakistan cricket started with the T20I series against New Zealand. The Pakistan Cricket Board named a team full of youngsters, dropping Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan with Salman Agha being appointed as the new captain in the shortest format of the game.

But even before Salman Agha was named captain, the name of Shadab Khan, who is the vice-captain of the T20I Team, was considered for the captain. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board was involved in a consultation with team mentors to discuss the issue.

The PCB currently has five mentors Sarfaraz Ahmed, Saqlain Mushtaq, Waqar Younis, Misbah-ul-Haq, and Shoaib Malik. They had discussions with selectors and the name of Shadab Khan was suggested as captain, especially with the kind of experience that he has.

PCB wasn't amazed by the suggestion of Shadab Khan taking over T20I leadership

But the PCB wasn't amazed by the suggestion, saying that Shadab Khan couldn't be a captain as he isn't a regular member of the team. Hence, they went ahead with Salman Agha, as they said they wanted someone to lead the team who was a regular member.

However, under the leadership of Salman Agha, things didn't go well for Pakistan. They went on to lose the series by the margin of 4-1. But even after the loss, the Pakistan Cricket Board are optimistic about having the same thing in future as well.

They want to give opportunities to youngsters as they want to prepare them for the T20 World Cup. They said that young players align better with modern cricket demands and, hence, will be given chances despite results not going their way.
