PCB identifies scapegoat! This star to be sacked after debacle in ICC Champions Trophy 2025

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is all set to take massive action on the team after they faced a horrible loss to India in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The Mohammad Rizwan-led side also have been eliminated from the tournament within 5 days.

Pakistan National Cricket Team started the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 on a poor note as they faced a disappointing 60-run loss, and it was expected that they would come up with a fightback in the second match against India. However, that wasn't the case, as it turned out to be an even worse performance for them.

Two back-to-back losses in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 meant Pakistan's tournament ended even though they are yet to play one more game. The Mohammad Rizwan-led side faced a lot of criticism for their poor outings, especially against India, and there have been calls to throw some players out of the team.

The current support staff will be overhauled now after the poor show in the Champions Trophy - Source close to PCB

Amid all the critics, PCB is all set to take strict action. As per the reports in PTI, it is learned that the governing body is all set to sack head coach Aaqib Javed and his coaching staff. A source close to the developments claimed that a massive overhaul is all set to take place after the ICC Champions Trophy. Speaking to PTI, he said:

"Obviously, there is backlash over the team’s performance in the CT. The Board hasn’t decided as yet on whether the team will have separate head coaches (for red and white ball teams), but one thing is certain: the current support staff will be overhauled now after the poor show in the Champions Trophy."

"But the way the Board has been changing coaches and selectors since last year, it will be a challenge to find other candidates for these positions. The PCB, after the way Kirsten and Gillispie resigned, is not going to get a choice of field when it comes to foreign coaches, so most probably the PCB will look at former players for the job."

Aaqib Javed was appointed as the head coach of the Pakistan National Cricket Team after the resignations of Jason Gillispie and Gary Kirsten. He had some success as a coach, but under him, the team lost the Test series against South Africa and also against West Indies at home before the debacle in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
