PCB's Financial Health In Question After Embarrassing Cost-Cutting Steps

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is implementing cost-cutting measures, including a deduction in the match fees of players. It is concerned about raising questions about the financial health of the Pakistan Cricket Board in the country.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has reduced the match fees of cricketers in the upcoming National T20 Championship from Rs 1 lakh per match to Rs 10 thousand per match, with reserve players getting 5 thousand per match. The Pakistan Cricket Board is also considering spending less on domestic cricket development.

According to sources, the news comes out that from the last few months, the head of domestic cricket, Abdullah Khurrum, is "reducing facilities for the domestic players.

five-star and four-star hotel accommodations that were offered to the players are now being offered cheaper accommodations. Flight expenses have also been reduced for them," a source said.

Another source said players and umpires are waiting for their outstanding payments from last season, which are yet to be cleared.

Despite the fee reduction of players, some senior mentors' fees are as high as they were.

Shoaib Malik, Sarfaraz Ahmed, and mentors Misbah ul Haq, Waqar Younis, and Saqlain Mushtaq are paid around five million rupees per month on their two-year contracts.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has also spent around Rs 1.8 billion on upgrading the stadiums for the Champions Trophy, where some of the stadiums that were more renovated were Gaddafi Stadium, National Stadium in Karachi, and the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
