PCB to investigate the Covid Cases in Players after they reached New Zealand. The Pakistani Board has asked for a probe into the matter of infection. 

After the rise in the cases among the players, PCB to investigate the Covid in the players after they reached New Zealand. The Pakistan Board has issued a notice after as many as 10 Pakistani Players got infected with the virus.

The probe has been launched after some players from the ongoing domestic series- Quaid-e-Azam Trophy complained of cough, fever, and sneezing. However, the medical team and PCB called it a viral infection which might happen due to change in weather conditions.

However, after the tests, those cricketers were found negative in the following  Covid report.

These cricketers were deemed to have a viral infection due to changing weather and laster also tested negative in the COvid-19 reports carried out in Lahore by the board.”

But somehow they tested positive in the tests carried out by the New Zealand officials after reaching Christchurch,” a PCB source said.

He told a few players who complained of cough and fever turned out to be positive once reaching the destination.

However, he also stated that those positive players belong to franchise teams and two provincial teams.

The source also confirmed that the foreign players who played the franchise cricket also undergone Covid tests and is undergoing isolation after coming positive.”

The discarded pacer, “Sohail Tanver” also tested positive after playing franchise cricket and is undergoing self-isolation.

Tanveer after being termed negative in the tests later in LPL, his medical officer advised him to return home to ensure safety and minimize the risk factor for him and the team.

However, the Pakistani Cricket Board (PCB) also faced criticism for sending 35 players including senior and List A players in the commercial flight along with 18 officials.
