The TATA IPL 2025 league stage is heating up as we near the business end of the tournament. As of May 19, Sai Sudharsan has taken the lead in the Orange Cap race with 617 runs, while Rajasthan Royals' pacer Prasidh Krishna tops the Purple Cap standings with 21 wickets. Sunday’s double-header saw thrilling performances and major shuffles in both leaderboards.
In the first match of Super Sunday, Punjab Kings posted a formidable 219/5 after recovering from early blows. Nehal Wadhera played a gritty knock of 70, while Shashank Singh added firepower with an unbeaten 59.
Rajasthan Royals started the chase aggressively, making full use of the powerplay. However, despite Dhruv Jurel's late fightback, Punjab’s disciplined bowling attack sealed a crucial victory for the Kings, strengthening their position in the mid-table contest.
The second match saw KL Rahul’s brilliance on display for Delhi Capitals as he smashed an unbeaten 112 off just 65 balls—marking the highest individual score against Gujarat Titans in IPL history. Delhi put up 199/3 on the board. But GT’s openers, Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan, put on a batting masterclass in reply.
Both scored unbeaten centuries in a record 10-wicket win, finishing the chase with balls to spare. Their stunning performance not only secured victory but also elevated them to the top two spots in the Orange Cap race.
