Whether the game becomes a high scoring contest or a low scoring thriller, there is no shortage of entertainment and high-pressure scenarios for the fans.

In the last match, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) took on Mumbai Indians (MI) in the evening fixture at the Maharashtra Cricket Association International Stadium in Pune. The five times IPL winners, Mumbai Indians, again failed to seal their opening win of the tournament, losing three out of three matches they’ve played so far.

The game was equally poised until Pat Cummins stepped into the field following the dismissal of Andre Russell. Everyone thought Russell to be the danger man, but to everyone’s shock, Pat Cummins turned the game with his sensational hitting off Danial Sams.

Cummins whacked Daniel Sams to a massive 35 runs in the 16th over to seal the game then and there for his side. Owing to his blitz innings, Cummins equalled KL Rahul’s record for the fastest half-century in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Aussie pacer aggregated 56 runs off 15 balls, while his fifty came in 14 deliveries.

With the win, Shreyas Iyer-led KKR bagged two more points and jumped to the top spot in the Points Table with three wins in four games. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians slumped to the penultimate position with their win counter still asking for a solitary win.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are now the new table-toppers with three wins and six points in four IPL 2022 matches. Rajasthan Royals (RR) slips at number two with two wins from three matches. Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans (GT) are in the third position with two wins in two matches followed by Punjab Kings (PBKS) at number four.

KL Rahul’s Lucknow Super Giants (4 points) is at five, followed by Royal Challengers Bangalore (4 points), Delhi Capitals (2 points), Chennai Super Kings (0 points), Mumbai Indians (0 points) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (0 points).

Rajasthan Royals’ opener batter Jos Buttler strongly holds the Orange Cap in the Tata IPL 2022 with 205 runs in three matches with a healthy average of 102.50. Mumbai Indians’ Ishan Kishan is placed at number two with 149 runs in the three matches followed by RCB skipper Faf du Plessis (122 runs).

Young batter Tilak Verma is at number four with 121 runs in three matches at an impressive strike rate of 161.33. LSG batter Deepak Hooda sits at fifth position with 119 runs followed by Shimron Hetmyer, Shivam Dube and KL Rahul.

Seasoned campaigner Umesh Yadav is reluctant to leave his Orange Cap in the ongoing season. Yadav’s consistency is commendable and owing to which the pacer has scalped nine wickets in four games and currently holds the Purple Cap in the IPL 2022. 

Yadav is followed by Rajasthan Royals’ Yuzvendra Chahal with seven scalps in three matches. Young pacer Avesh Khan from Lucknow Super Giants is at number three with seven wickets. 

Punjab Kings Rahul Chahar, Royal Challengers Bangalore Wanindu Hasaranga and Mumbai Indian’s Tymal Mills are at four, five and six positions respectively with six wickets apiece.
