Points Table, Orange Cap, Purple Cap in IPL 2022 – Updated List April 9: Debutant side Gujarat Titans (GT) have left a solid impression of their flamboyant cricket as they extend their unbeaten run in the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 with a last-ball win over Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the Brabourne Stadium, last night.
In match number 16, Gujarat Titans (GT) sealed their third win of the tournament, defeating Punjab Kings (PBKS). Dangerman Rahul Tewatia showed the ghost of the past to Punjab Kings, as he smoked Odean Smith for consecutive two sixes to finish the game in Gujarat’s favour.
Earlier, Hardik Pandya won the toss and invited Punjab Kings (PBKS) to bat first in the Brabourne Stadium. Mayank Agarwal and his troops managed to put up a total of 189 runs in the quota of 20 overs.
England batter Liam Livingstone slammed his second half-century as he aggregated 64 runs off 27 balls. Though Punjab lost wickets successively during their innings, run-scoring never stopped for them owing to good stroke play from their tailenders.
Chasing 190 runs total, Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans (GT) didn’t have an ideal start as wicketkeeper batter Matthew Wade was dismissed pretty early. However, to cover things up for GT, opener batter Shubman Gill extended his sublime touch and plundered 96 runs from 59 deliveries.
Gill’s fantastic innings was complemented by small cameos from debutant Sai Sudharsan (35 runs), Hardik Pandya (27 runs) and Rahul Tewatia (13 runs). In the end, things fell in the favour of Gujarat Titans (GT) by six wickets and bagged two more crucial points.
Owing to the win, Gujarat Titans (GT) have made subsequent gains in the points table. Moreover, there are a couple of changes in the Orange Cap and Purple Cap races as well.
