Pragyan Ojha nominated as the representative to IPL GC.
The former Indian spinner has been nominated as the representative to the IPL governing council by the Indian Cricketers Associations (ICA). A day before the actual AGM, the decision was announced and it has been a shocking one.
Formerly, it was represented by the retired Indian cricketer Surendra Khanna and according to the BCCI constitution, every year Indian Cricketers Association (ICA) is required to send a member to the Indian Premier League Governing Council (IPL GC).
Indian Cricketers Association (ICA):
?Yes, the ICA?s directors have nominated former Indian spinner, Pragyan Ojha as the representative to the IPL governing council. Previously, Surendra Sharma has done a good job and we would like to give everyone an opportunity,? ICA president Ashok Malhotra told PTI.
The left arm spinner played his last international game in 2013 during Sachin Tendulkar?s last game. Since then he is out of the international level. Ojha announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in February this year.
?The members of ICA have authorized the Board of Directors to nominate the member to the IPL governing council as well as the ICA board. After long talks and taking into consideration any possible issues of conflicts of interest, found Pragyan Ojha as the suitable member to represent them.?
?The AGM conducted via video conference, touched upon the issues that had been raised by the ICA Representatives to the BCCI Apex Council to further the cause of ICA?s members."
According to the statement, ?The ICA officials had raised the issue with the BCCI of increasing the Medical reimbursement and include widows as also those who have played between 10 and 24 first-class games. The Board has also requested BCCI to include domestic women cricketers in their gratis scheme,? ICA said.
Pragyan Ojha has played 24 test games and amassed a total of 113 scalps to his bag.
