The ninth edition of the Pakistan Super League, Pakistan’s primary franchise T20 event, began on February 17, 2024. This season looks to be another captivating affair with six franchises vying for the title, owing to the injection of experienced, Promising, and fresh talents.
In 2017, Peshawar Zalmi won their first-ever Pakistan Super League (PSL) championship. But they still are waiting for their second title. Peshawar missed out on a second title in 2018 after losing to Islamabad United by three wickets in the final match. Zalmi advanced to the final of the 2019 tournament but was defeated by the Quetta Gladiators.
They have qualified for the playoffs in 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 but failed to go the distance of the glory.
With Babar Azam at the helm, Zalmi’s batting lineup looked very capable, while their bowling lineup was a little bit lackluster. They have a few new players in their lineup, and compared to the previous year, they appear to be a lot more well-rounded group.
Ahead of the 2024 season, Zalmi added some intriguing players to their roster. West Indies speedster Shamar Joseph is anticipated to improve the Zalmi team following an amazing showing in the Gabba test.

Zalmi’s bowling resources, though, appear to be lacking. Unlike the batting order, they have a weaker reserve in their bowling lineup. In the previous season, Zalmi mostly depended on Naveen-ul-Haq and Noor Ahmad of Afghanistan, but with the addition of Shomar Joseph and Waqar Salamkheil, they have become a more formidable team.
