Punishments and Fines for Players in case of Covid Breach in IPL 2022: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has put in place strict rules and protocols that are needed to be followed by everyone involved in the conduct of the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. Heavy fines are also imposed on players, support staff, franchise and match officials for the breach in the regulations chalked out by the Indian Cricket Board.
Last year, the BCCI had to suspend the tournament midway after several covid protocol breaches were recorded by the players and other members. The IPL 2021 was shifted to the UAE from the halfway mark, however, this time, the governing body doesn’t want anything of such discipline to happen again.
With a better understanding of the covid situation in India and Maharashtra specifically, the BCCI has pinned a new set of fines to be imposed on players, support staff, match officials and even family members in case any covid-breach takes place.
“The COVID-19 pandemic poses a serious threat to the health of individuals and the cooperation, commitment and adherence by each Person Subject To These Operational Rules to the measure put in place to provide a safe environment is of paramount importance,” the BCCI said in its operational rules for the IPL 2022.
Down below is the list of punishments and fines for the respective covid breach in the IPL 2022.
Punishments & Fines for Players in case of Covid Breach in IPL 2022:
Covid breach for 1st time: When a person commits breach for the first time, he will have to re-enter into a seven days quarantine period once again. Also, the player will be fined a 100 per cent match fee for the number of matches he misses out on during the quarantine period.
Covid breach for 2nd Time: If a person commits breach for the second time, he will have to serve a one-game suspension with no pay for the match. This punishment will follow the seven days re-quarantine along with a match fee fine for the number of matches missed.
Covid breach for 3rd Time: In case the same person commits a breach for the third time, it will lead to his removal from his respective squad for the remainder of the IPL 2022. The franchise will also be not able to call for a replacement.
Besides putting in sanctions on the players, support staff and match officials, the BCCI has also marked out serious rules and punishments for the family members as well.
