Quinton de Kock unavailable for 2nd and 3rd test match against India: The hosts, South Africa will miss the elite class services of experienced wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock in the upcoming 2nd and 3rd test match against India. As per the recent development, de Kock has asked for leave to the country’s cricket board.

Quinton de Kock will be on paternity leave as he and his wife are expecting a baby during that period.

Earlier, it was reported that the stumper batsman may miss the third test match only, however, during day three’s play a commentator confirmed that de Kock will skip the last two fixtures of the three-match test series against India.

South Africa vs India 2nd test match will begin on January 3 in Johannesburg while the final test will be in Cape Town, starting January 11.

De Kock’s unavailability will be a major setback for the Protea’s. The stumper batsman helped his team come out of a dire situation in the 1st innings by stitching a good partnership with Temba Bavuma. Though he got out after scoring 34, his contribution was valuable in providing resistance to the lethal Indian bowlers.

The hosts have the likes of Kyle Verreynne and Ryan Rickelton in the squad who will be replacing de Kock after the test match. It remains to be seen, who gets the preference once de Kock exits the team after the opening test match at Centurian.

While Ryan Rickelton is yet to make his test debut, Kyle Verreynne has only featured in two test matches for South Africa.
