R Ashwin hints at his CSK comeback in IPL 2022 Mega Auction.

IPL 2022: Team India’s senior off-spinner R Ashwin has expressed his wish to return back to his homeside IPL franchise in the Tata IPL 2022. Ashwin indicated that he wants to play for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League.

Ravichandran Ashwin in a conversation with the veteran auctioneer Richard Madley, who has also made his appearances in the IPL auctions in the past, said that he would love to track his steps back to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) where he started his journey, but asserted that he would do his best if he goes to any IPL franchise.

“It will be nice to come back to where I started [Chennai Super Kings],” said R Ashwin.

“I’m actually not too sure, but to be honest, a professional player going anywhere giving his best must be the ideal way to go about it,” the cricketer added.

Ashwin also expressed uncertainties on his return to CSK as the franchise already has an off-spinner in the squad and it will be a question whether they are willing to take another off-spinner on board.

“But they already have an off-spinner with them in Moeen Ali. So I don’t know how they gonna go about it, so let’s wait and watch,” said Ravichandran Ashwin.

R Ashwin started off his IPL journey in 2008 with Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The spinner remained attached to the yellow brigade until 2015, post which he went to Rising Pune Supergiants. For CSK, Ashwin played 95 matches in which he scalped 90 wickets at an average of 24.2.

It must be noted that Ashwin is named among the 9 other cricket stars as the ‘Top Draws’ of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. He will be chased by multiple IPL teams during the mega auction.

Ashwin has placed himself in the slab of INR 2 Crore base price for the IPL 2022 Mega Auction.

The cricketer reckons that appearing early in the auction is a bit of a disadvantage with the franchises yet to settle down.

“Actually to be very honest, I have got no clue about where I might be ending up. The reason being it’s early up in the auction, some teams have got money, some teams have already retained a lot of players and I just feel it’s going to be a real topsy turvy sort of a curve.”

The cricketer further added: “If you come and present yourself in the first three or four people in the marquee set, then your future is just about anywhere and everywhere. If you come maybe after five players and I think there are a few teams that will have money and there will be an even game happening and there will be people going after.”
